Windows 7 and Windows Vista cannot be used for production deployments of SharePoint 2010. If you use Windows 7 or Windows Vista for your development environment, you should have access to a test environment that has the same operating system installed as your production environment. Windows 7 and Windows Vista are recommended only for developer workstations and should only be used for stand-alone installations. You can use a separate Microsoft SQL Server instance, but you should not configure your installationas a SharePoint farm and you should not host active sites on this configuration.

Le gros souci avec le SSD en ce moment c'est de savoir si ça vaut le coup ou pas, si réellement on va le sentir passer mais qu'après on pourra fanfaronner avec des "perfs de ouf" ou alors si on passera pour le geek de service qui a dépensé une fortune pour acheter le dernier truc "hyper ultra super top moumoute over the top of the performances" mais qui en réalité tourne juste 10% plus vite que le reste...

REDMOND, Wash. — July 22, 2009 — Microsoft Corp. today announced the release to manufacturing (RTM) of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the next versions of its flagship desktop and server operating systems. With the completion of this development phase, industry partners are readying products in time for the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 worldwide general launches. Windows 7 will be generally available to customers around the world on October 22, and Windows Server 2008 R2 will be generally available on or before that date. As always, current customers of the Windows Volume Licensing program, Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) subscribers and TechNet subscribers will be among the first to get customer access to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 in the coming weeks.

The Microsoft VHD format is the common virtualization file format for Hyper-V that provides a uniform product support system, and provides more seamless manageability, security, reliability and cost-efficiency for customers.

This VHD release is available in English only and is for evaluation and testing purposes. The VHD images are current set to expire to on March 1st 2010 (at which time the OS will become inoperable.As this installation requires Hyper-V, you will need to have a base install of Windows Server 2008 (64bit edition) or Windows Server 2008 R2 RC, running Hyper-V. For more information on obtaining and installing the latest version of Hyper-V, please visit the Hyper-V Homepage.Both virtual machines available here are running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition Evaluation. One is the default full installation, and the other has been configured as a default Core installation. For more information on the difference between full and core installation please see the Windows Server 2008 Editions Overview pages.

I read somewhere that you would need to do a clean install from a Beta version of Windows 7. I will probably spend the weekend backing up my Dell, wiping it clean and installing Windows 7."

Le point sur Office 14…

Depuis l’annonce du 24 février rapportée dans Information Week (cf. Ballmer Says Microsoft Won't Ship Office 14 This Year ), il est clair qu’Office 14 ne sortira pas cette année mais en 2010.

Il est aussi clair que la sortie de la version web des applications Office sera couplée à celle d’Office 14.

En quoi consisteront ces applications Web ? Cela a été décrit dans une interview de Chris Capossela, Senior Vice President, Microsoft Business Division, ici : Microsoft to Extend Office to the Browser pour la PDC 2008. L’idée est bien de disposer des applications Office comme d’un service accessible via le navigateur et s’inscrit complètement dans la stratégie S+ S (Software + Services) de Microsoft. Les applications concernées seraient ( d’après cet article : Microsoft Opens Office 14 Kimono, Slightly ) Word, Excel, PowerPoint et OneNote.
